Dr. Thet Aung

Dr. Thet Aung (MBBS FRANZCP), is the visionary founder and director of Riverview Mind Clinic. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry and graduated as a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2017.

After completing his medical degree in Yangon, Burma, Dr. Aung pursued postgraduate training in Psychiatry. He gained diverse experience during his tenure in the UK from 2002 to 2006 and has since worked in various regional and urban hospitals across Australia, including Queensland, NSW, Western Australia, and Tasmania.

Dr. Aung possesses a comprehensive understanding of psychiatric disorders and complexities, including mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and substance misuse.

His professional journey encompasses both inpatient and community settings. Special Interests include: Mood disorders, Personality disorders, Psychological therapies, Recovery and rehabilitation and Holistic treatment approaches.

Dr. The The Aung is an Australian trained psychiatrist and obtained her fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2023. Before joining the RANZCP fellowship training program, Dr. The The earned a broad experience overseas, working as a psychiatry doctor at an accredited teaching hospital, the Institute of Mental Health Hospital, in Singapore. Throughout her psychiatry training in Australia, Dr. The The obtained invaluable experience working in public hospitals in Queensland, Victoria, and Tasmania. She enjoys providing health care to culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Dr. The The offers full psychiatric evaluations and ongoing management in adult psychiatry and has special interests in mood disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, adult ADHD, and neurostimulation therapies, particularly transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (TMS) for depression.

Without her beloved cat Amigo and puppy Jasper by her side, she knows she would not have reached her goals. Their unwavering companionship provided her with comfort and motivation during challenging times, reminding her to take breaks, find joy in the little things, and stay grounded.

These attributes of empathy, balance, and a positive outlook are what she brings to her consultations, fostering a supportive environment where patients feel understood and empowered on their own paths to well-being.

Dr. Thet Htay became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) in 2005 and was awarded the Completion Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry. This prestigious recognition underscores his commitment to excellence in the field of psychiatry.

In addition to his UK qualifications, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, highlighting his extensive training and dedication to mental health care across different regions.

Dr. Htay has trained and practiced psychiatry in the UK for nearly 18 years, gaining invaluable experience in a variety of clinical settings. For the past four years, he has served as a staff specialist in Australia, where he continues to make a significant impact on the lives of his patients.

With decades of experience in clinical psychiatry, Dr. Htay truly embraces a patient-centered approach in his daily practice. He believes in building strong therapeutic relationships, ensuring that his patients feel heard and supported. He provides evidence-based treatments that encompass both pharmacological and psychosocial interventions, tailored to meet each individual's unique needs.

His special interests include mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
